When you want to have your website hosted, you probably know how important it is to make sure that your web host is local to you. There are a number of reasons for this, and we'll go over them right now. Hopefully when you finish reading you'll understand why your host needs to be somewhere close!
First of all, there's the speed. Yes, the internet is instantaneous, but did you ever notice how file mirrors will tell you to pick the server that's closest to you? Well, the reason is that it goes much faster if the data has a shorter distance to travel. If you have a lot of clients that are local to you, then this will be a great feature. They'll compliment you on how fast your website is, and you'll probably get more business. In contrast, having a site hosted on the other side of the world will cause slower load times, and generally there is nothing to be done about it.
Next there is the issue of technical support. When everything works right it won't seem to be a problem, but the second you get a "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" when you visit your website you're not going to be too happy. You want to make sure that the web host's office is local to you so you can march down there if anything should go wrong. Your host might be more inclined to get the issue resolved if they know you're right down the street.
Is your web host competent? You won't know unless you're able to go to their office and see their day to day operations. The last thing you want is to invest a lot of money in a host, only to find that they have no idea what they're doing! One issue I came across was a host that had no idea what the index.htm page did. Naturally this was stopping a user from creating a proper webpage, and they couldn't seem to figure out why. I knew what the problem was immediately and was able to fix it, but needless to say the user wasn't very happy with the service!
Most importantly you'll be able to sit down and talk to the host before you begin uploading your website. If you do this there will be no misunderstandings over exactly what you need in the host. If you need anything special, like an IRC server, you can talk to them about this and come to a price agreement. The internet has made many things automated, but there's still no substitute for good old human contact!
One cannot overstate the importance of a local web host. If you are thinking of having a page hosted for any reason, then start looking into local hosts (not your network IP) immediately. It will greatly benefit you and whatever it is you're trying to accomplish.
If you're looking for a Web host on the Sunshine Coast, FlexiNet, the Sunshine Coast Web Design professionals, are ready to help you today. They're the oldest independent Internet Service Provider on the Coast, and their Web Hosting packages are the most competitively priced in Australia.

VAS Entertainment BS! (One) $20 BS is an out of the ordinary, if not extraordinary surf film that documents the serious ripping of Dusty Payne, Mitch Coleborn, Alex Gray, Ozzie Wright, Nate Tyler, and Andrew Doheny, while revealing their individual characters through thoughtful interviews that quickly slip into honest humor. On top of such humor, the film builds into striking notes of provokingly tweaked sarcasm that is in refreshing contrast to current surf film genre trends. Critic, Jed Smith, of Stab Magazine writes, “It's a rare hi-fi film that seamlessly blends personality, humor and inspiring sequences of surfing. The surfing takes place in scapes ranging from the dark blue tubes of Australia, to the rich green walls of Indonesia. From California's Southern zoos, to its Northern secret nooks. From a roping Chilean left, to a warped Tahitian right-hand mindbender. From the proving grounds of North Shore, Oahu, to a freakish Outer Island climax. |

VAS Entertainment Picaresque DVD (0) $30 From its inception, Picaresque was about showcasing longboarding in a new light; getting away from the preconceived notions and turning up the tempo. When in motion, longboarding is ultra fluid, yet relatively systematic. But when its done right, it's also utterly dynamic. With an über-talented group of 25-and-unders (let for one), spells of innovation and sickening-balance led to a blending of traditional and progressive, resulting in a universal message about the sport: logging offers few limitations. The collaboration project between High Seas Films and Flesh Profits Nothing is about unveiling an unseen (and unappreciated) side of longboarding. Between the unique camera angles and editing, a new spin on “surf music, and choice locations, Picaresque is a step into the new generation of surfing. Shot in Super 16mm film and High- Definition, the project took the crew around the globe, stopping in Australia, California, Florida, France, Mainland Mexico, New England, New York, and Costa Rica, presenting a range of backdrops, cultural interactions and wave faces. Starring: Harrison Roach, Christian Wach, Scotty Stopnik, Tommy Witt, Matty Chojnacki, Chris Christenson, Mikey DeTemple, Chad Doyle, Rob Kulisek, Alek Parker, Eli, and Bucky Berry. |
